Focusing on general litigation, Payne handles a variety of cases including insurance defense, general liability, construction litigation, product liability, dram shop, wrongful death, personal injury, appellate court, automobile wrecks, declaratory judgment actions and insurance defense coverage opinions. Prior to joining McAngus, Goudelock & Courie, she practiced insurance defense in Columbia.
A graduate of Florida State University College of Law and the University of South Carolina, Payne is a recipient of the Junior League of Columbia Kinsey Black Jones Memorial Award and has been among Charleston Business Magazine’s Legal Elite of the Lowcountry for Business Litigation (2019-2022) and received the distinction of Top Attorney Vote.

Nilges serves as Director of Government Affairs for the SouthCarolina Department of Education, and her main responsibility is to serve asthe legislative liaison for the Department of Education. Each year, shecompletes the agency’s budget proposal and advocate for the budget requests infront of the General Assembly.
She also is in charge of the policy side of the department’s operations.
Nilges earned a Bachelor of Science in Communications with afocus on Interpersonal and Organizational Communication and a Bachelor of Artsin Political Science from East Carolina University and her Juris Doctor fromUniversity of South Carolina School of Law.

Tenenbaum focuses her practice on consumer product safety andrecalls, crisis and risk management, and internal operations for manufacturersand retailers. She serves as an expert witness in consumer product litigationand the operations of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, and alsopractices in the area of education public policy.
Tenenbaum was elected South Carolina superintendent of educationin 1998 and again in 2002. She continues to draw on that experience to counselclients on public policy issues regarding pre-K-12 education on a state,regional, or national level.
In 2009, she was nominated to serve as chairman of the U.S.Consumer Product Safety Commission, a post she served in through 2013. Herexperience as chairman of the commission has made her a trusted adviser toclients on product-safety issues including compliance, prevention, crises, andconsumer education.
Tenenbaum is also certified as a state circuit court mediator anda federal district court mediator for civil cases in South Carolina.
The Georgia native received her undergraduate and Master ofEducation degrees from the University of Georgia before earning her J.D. fromthe UofSC School of Law.
When not practicing law, Tenenbaum enjoys hiking, gardening, andcooking.
